Program Qualifications

You must have the following qualifications prior to applying to LCB:

Education/Experience

You must have both to apply:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 

  • 90 hours of Lactation Specific Education

Certificates and Licenses

You must have one of the following to apply: 

    • CLC
    • CLE
    • CLEC
    • CBS
    • La Leche League Leader or similar
    • RN
    • RD 

Similar credentials and/or experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Completion of College Level Health Science Courses as Outlined by IBLCE

  • Biology

  • Human anatomy and physiology

  • Infant and child growth and development

  • Intro to clinical research

  • Nutrition

  • Psychology

  • Sociology

Completion of Non-college Level Health Science Courses as Outlined by IBLCE

  • Basic life support (must be completed)

  • Medical documentation

  • Medical terminology

  • Occupational safety and security for health professionals

  • Ethics for health professionals

  • Universal safety precautions or infection control and prevention
