Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start earning my hours?
Answer: Once your Pathway 3 Plan has been approved by the IBLCE or your LCB mentor has been added to your plan, you sign your LCB Mentorship contract, fill out the mentee onboarding form, and complete your onboarding call, you will be able to begin earning your clinical hours.
How long until I'll be ready to take the IBCLC exam?
Answer: When you will be ready to take the IBLCE board exam depends on how quickly you earn your hours and how many prerequisites you still need to complete. It can take between 1-5 years to be ready to sit for your board exam.
How do I get started?
Answer: Fill out the application form, and we will reach out if we think you’d be a good fit for the program.
How will I earn my 500 hours?
Answer: You will earn hours through the following:

Prenatal virtual group classes

Prenatal 1:1 consultations

1:1 postpartum lactation consultations in-person or virtually
How will I begin seeing clients through LCB?
Answer: Your address will be added as a service location to our directory so clients in your area will be able to find you.
How will I get paid?
Answer: You will be paid by check mailed to your address. Payments are processed bi-weekly. Payments are processed once insurance claims have been paid by the insurance company. Any additional fees such as travel fees will be paid to you directly by the client. You are responsible for collecting these fees.
Who can I speak with if I'm confused?
Answer: You will have an initial call with the LCB Mentorship Director to discuss the mentorship process and make sure the program is the right fit for you. If you are admitted to the mentorship program, you’ll then proceed with an onboarding call with our COO to complete the onboarding process.
